Signing up contracts: costs, guarantees, number of attempts, payments and service included.

It’s 12th day of my period and I’m starting stimulation this month. Hurray! Yeap, we’ve been matched with a surrogate mother (I still know absolutely nothing of who she is) and they synchronize our cycles. I have to do ultrasound in 6 days to ensure everything’s fine and I can start stimulation. It’s a long protocol starting from Dipherelin 3.75, one shot.

Now I know it’s a high doze and I’m a bit afraid of side effects and how I will be feeling. From the other hand, I know that our doctor Elena is one of the leading specialists there in Biotexcom so I hope she knows what she is doing.
Surely, I’ll keep you updated on how we proceed, and now as I promised I’d like to tell you of how we finally made a choice, probably one of the most important choices in our whole life. These two days in Kiev were very busy but in the meantime very informative. It was not easy for us to make a choice, I must admit. All clinics we visited seemed quite good, modern and providing high level of service. Now the most crucial question was price and guarantees. Yes, guarantees. For newbies like me the category of “guarantee” sounded quite strange for a start. What guarantees do they mean? Ok, let me explain. It seemed that we were the only couple there who was opting surrogacy and knows nothing of what IVF is. Couple/women contacting fertility center for surrogacy usually have a background of a row of unsuccessful treatments: IUI (intra-uterine insemination), IVFs, donor egg IVFs, and even surrogacy attempts. With all those failures, they wasted time and money. That’s why guarantee of having a baby is so important to them. You know, we met a very kind couple from Denmark there in the clinic. They had 6 unsuccessful attempts of ivfs (both donor and own eggs) and trying to conceive for almost 10 years. I felt really sorry for them. I can’t even imagine how painful it might be. Now they switched to surrogacy. They told me that they had signed with this clinic mainly because they provide unlimited number of attempts for fixed price. In this particular case – donor eggs surrogacy. The same is provided by our contract. The only difference is that I give my own eggs. I go through hormonal stimulation. They can’t stimulate me endlessly. Thus, in case it won’t work from the first two attempts, they will have to shift for donor eggs. They told us that if we desperately want it to be our eggs with no shift to donor eggs, we’d better choose single attempt surrogacy program. It costs less but no guarantees, as you understand. Just one shot. Like a Russian roulette. Of course, I desperately want my future baby to be genetically connected to me. But losing money and flying away with big fat negative was also not a great prospective for us. We signed up for unlimited number of attempts: two attempts on my own with further transfer to donor eggs. Still hope so-so-so MUCH that our two attempts will work. I will do everything possible and impossible for this.
They offered us to choose between three contracts. The cheapest one is Economy package, cost 29 900 euro. Then comes Standard package – 39 900, and VIP package 49 900. All three are “all-inclusive” and provide guaranteed success. All legal and medical expenses are covered in each package, as well surrogate mother and egg donor fees (in case of egg donation). In economy package, you will have to cover all expenses in case of premature birth. Also, if pregnancy due to certain conditions stops after the 12th week (very unlikely, still may happen), you pay compensation to a surrogate mother – 6 k euro. With Standard package, the clinic covers all these expenses (premature birth and pregnancy loss after 12 week). It may sound a bit too complicated to figure this all out, I know. We read all those contacts several times and asked dozens of questions before we could finally digest information and take a certain decision. With VIP contract, it’s easier – your contact is ultimately all inclusive: no extra charges, luxurious separate accommodation, business car transfers and personal driver, Ukrainian mobile phone, baby sitter, pediatrician and even all baby stuff you need. I think this package enables you with much more privilege, however we didn’t consider this package as an option for us mainly because of the price. So obviously I can’t be a very good counselor as to this particular package. I’m sure it’s more than great, but still we were choosing between economy and standard. We finally signed up for the last one. For us, it seemed to be a perfect combination of price and quality. Also, with this contact they provide better and more spacious accommodation which was a very important criteria for us because next times we will be travelling with our 3 (almost 4) year old son and he needs a separate bedroom.
It seems that I forgot to mention that no matter what package you choose, they provide airport pickup, transfers, interpreter service and even meals. I find it rather comfortable. We spoke with those who are already parenting babies there in biotex (waiting for all their papers to be ready for leaving back home which may take a month or two, so be ready). They said that it’s so comfortable: they have a maid who cleans the house and cooks fresh meals so that you can concentrate on your baby with no extra fuss.

Having made the first payment of 8 k euro, we we’ve been waiting for a match with gestational carrier for around 10 weeks. Our next payment (7 900 euro) is scheduled on the day of eggs retrieval. I’m still very overwhelmed, a bit worried about hormonal stimulation (mainly because I’m afraid to do anything wrong) and afraid of eggs retrieval surgery in general. But still I have this very warm feeling deep in my heart that it will work for us.

PS: the photo attached is our hotel room provided by the clinic we’ve been staying at in Kiev

  1. I think I should share some of my background first. This was our path leading us to surrogacy. Together with my amazing dh we ttc since Jan 2015.
Me: Lindsey, 39 yrs old, diagnosed on ''mild'' endo.
DH: 43 SAs. varies between normal to MFI
    IUI #1 Sep'15 - BFN and ended up with 2x 20mm+ cysts
    IUI #2 Dec'15 - cancelled. O'd spontaneously on CD10 before trigger. O confirmed with CD21 test
IUI #3 Dec'16 BFN... moving on to IVF.
IVF #1 - ER (10 follies, 8 eggs, 6 mature, 2 fertilised), 5d transfer of 1 embie, no frosties, BFN.
Lap Mar'17 - Dx severe endo
IVF #2 – the same ER outcomes. One 5day embie stuck – actopic. They had to remove my left tube.
IVF#3 – again 1 5day blast transferred. Miscarried 9 wks. Mc caused some further complications.
Dr didn't feel good about continuing with ivf rounds. She told told us honestly with all those complications we've got with the last failed cycle, it'd be better fror us to look onto surrogacy. All of the sudden, I was astonished and burst into tears. I did believe I could do this myself!! But I failed. I failed the only thing nature meant for me. I was devastated and ruined and the only person who was able to help me heal was my dh.
Every infertility treatment is a huge challenge for both of the couple. It influences everything, starting from time and financial resourses up to relationship. I truly cannot imagine the whole story without my loving behalf.

  4. I've never seen such prices before!! omg, ladies, this is awesome! BioTexCom provides 1 IVF cycle for EUR 4,900, 2 cycles for EUR 6,900 (EUR 3,450 per cycle) and 5 cycles for EUR 9,900 (EUR 1,980 per cycle), which is incredibly cheaper than average cost for cycle in Ukraine. All of the packages include donor eggs, all medications, transfer from/to the airport and from/to the clinic, accommodation, meals, interpreter services. It’s definitely comforting to see this positive spin on both surrogacy and donor egg plans!

  5. Yet one more thing. If i'm not mistaken, Economy package for 29900 euro is not avaliable this year. I don't know if there will be this option any time later. They explain all the packages were sold out as the treatment plan is very popular among couples. No wonder though. Services offered and prices are well balanced. People usually seek for such affordable options.

    1. All their packages are all-inclusive. Meaning they include: Accommodation. Meals. Medical procedures and medications. Medical and psychological examination of the surrogates. Payments to the surrogate. Transfers to and from the airport and the clinic. Donor eggs if needed – for no additional price!! Interpreter with you at the clinic on every visit. Legal help to obtain documents for the baby after it is born. Monthly ultrasound reports with pictures of your baby. English speaking coordinator who is considered to be your point of contact at the clinic. Moreover, all packages are paid in 5 intallments!! No need to pay the whole money sum at once. The last 2 installments are paid after the birth of your baby! Needless to say their ”guaranteed” refund if no luck.
One more thing to add. Have you, guys, ever seen anywhere such prices like:
1 IVF cycle for EUR 4,900.
2 IVF cycles for EUR 6,900, meaning EUR 3,450 per cycle!
5 IVF cycles for EUR 9,900, which is EUR 1,980 per cycle!!
Besides, all of the packages include donor eggs, ALL medications needed, transfer from/to the airport and from/to the clinic, accommodation, meals, interpreter services.
      This definitely blews away!

  7. I believe passionately every human being has the right to a family. And that in modern society it has become harder to start a family. Because of economic pressures and also government policies. 'cause of lack of adequate childcare. There is also frequent breakdown of marriage and lack of family support. But I believe the only way I would ever feel fulfilled was by having children of my own!! I am very happy with my decision. And I have encouraged many single women not to wait for Mr. Right when it may be too late but to have a baby when they are ready. I would like many children myself. So do keep on trying and looking for some good options for me. I constantly watch bio texcom videos, read their blogs. And the more I get info the more I understand i'm on the right way. And probably this gonna be my luck with them too. I know those are just first steps. But they make me closer, make US closer to the dream. May God bless all people struggling with their tiny miracles.

    1. Prior to infertility, I had never been depressed. I have been a very happy person and was pretty together. But in years flow everything changed cardinally for me, for us both. 7 years ttc behind with 6 failed IUIs and one cancelled ivf cycle ( for one additional test only which put the verdict this wasn’t going to happen – never!). I had/have fibroids in the uterus. Once they were removed but unfortunately grew back. My dr saw a threat to my health if being prego, so he insisted never trying to do this. Later we got news as for my aged eggs and their poor quality. I was so sad, so hurt, such a mess and down, all of the time.
I never questioned my ability to become a parent. I felt strong about. But then I felt so weak. I wanted to get to a point so that I could move on. To where I could be happy again, to where I could bring joy to my life. I clearly was in no way ready to start building a family with my head in such a dark place then. Much time was needed to get there finally.
Currently we’re passing de surrogacy with Ukrainian clinic.

  10. My name's Karen. I'm 30 yrs old, dh is 35. TTC#1 since 2007. Jan 2012 - No hb at 9w1d - d&c (Turner Syndrome/Monosomy X) FET#3 – BFP! Betas: 8dp6dt/14dpo - 124; 10dp6dt/16dpo - 317; 16dp6dt/22dpo - 6,289; 23dp6dt/29dpo – 32,961 It's a boy! Benny Marshall arrived on January 9, 2013 (39w2d) 8lbs 5oz, 20" I think since then we all concentrated on his upbringing. Didn' thinking much about siblings for him. Now I understand we shouldn't have done thism 'cause wasted time. Precious time. Since then I faced loads of health complications. My heart started to work inappropriately. And that was the main obstacle on the way of possible fresh or FET cycles. Dr told I wouldn't cope on my own with another pregnancy. So he adviced to look onto surrogacy. Search for reputable clinics took a lot of time. There are so many of them, but how we could know which one to choose. Started gleaming on infertility boards, talking to people and their experiences. This path took us to Biotexcom site where we got sure we were moving the right direction.

  11. After much gleaning in forums, it became clear that Ukraine was our best choice. First, it is relatively affordable, with all-inclusive plans starting at 32k up to 50k, which covers absolutely everything outside of your plane tickets, such as transportation, food, accommodations, all things that involve IVF for you if you are using your own eggs, surrogate screening and medical costs, and birth at the hospital. It is also the same price if you choose to use donor eggs instead, which is a nice back-up plan to have if things don’t work out with your own, at no additional cost. This blew us away, because we hadn’t seen this kind of all-inclusive plan anywhere else, and the best part about it is that they guarantee you a baby, because if the first surrogate doesn’t work out, they will try again with another using your frozen embryos until they are successful. We have encountered other couples who chose Ukraine purely for the guarantee factor of a baby, which can sound strange to some, but for us, it was like music to our ears! Also, it seems like Ukraine is one of the few places where the laws favor the intended parents rather than the surrogate. Under Ukrainian law, the baby is ours from the moment of conception. Once the baby is born, the birth certificate is issued with our names, and the surrogate cannot claim any rights. Lastly, we could rest with the thought that time-wise, pregnancy could start right after embryos are created, as many women participate in surrogacy in Ukraine. Everyone that we had spoken to had been successful with the first try, if not the second, so that was very appealing to us, as we had also considered adoption at one point, but knew from family members that it could take quite some time for that to happen as well.

One additional fact that we also liked is that we can pay the surrogate directly, which assures us that they are being paid well for their efforts, and aren’t abused by the agency. The average monthly income for Ukraine is around $200, so the compensation can change the lives of their family for the better.

  12. Am chimming in. Together with dh we were with biotexcom but with a different case. Briefly, me - that time 43 yo with POF. Dh - stage 3 colon cancer - his chemo ended in June 2015 and resulted in low sperm count. So that with all these 'complications' we stopped at de ivf choice. We applied for 5 att package with 100% money refund in case of failure. But thankfully got prego after the very first try. Being at the place we studied lots of info about all the possible ways of treatment in this country, and the clinic in particular. We were considering surrogacy there as well, you know, just in case nothing works. And here it's important to understand the following points: 1. legislation as for surrogacy 2. financial costs. 3. Choice of offered programs. They've got all the contracts in PDF on their site, so that you can read more for details each one. But as for me the most attractive side is that in Ukraine intended parents are legal parents of the baby born by a surrogate . Their names are written in the baby’s birth certificate. Surrogate mother has no right to keep the baby after delivery. In fact, according to the contract concluded between intended parents and surrogate mother. Prices vary from 29900 to 49900 euro due to a chosen package.

  13. Hi. Found this on another site and thought it may be useful –
Pumpkin Seeds /Sunflower Seeds– naturally high in zinc and essential fatty acids which are vital to healthy functioning of the male reproductive system.
Eat 1/4 cup a day of raw pumpkin or sunflower seeds to help maintain a healthy reproductive system.
Garlic – Garlic contains many fertility boosting nutrients such as selenium, which improves male fertility and vitamin B6 which is a hormone regulator.
Honey – Rich in minerals and amino acids, honey has been known to enhance fertility throughout history. Many consider it to be a fertility - super-food which nourishes the reproductive system for both men and women.
Cinnamon – Cinnamon is a sweet-tasting spice that has recently been shown to have a beneficial effect on stabilizing blood insulin levels. It has fertility enhancing properties, especially when combined with honey. Take 1/2 to 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
    mixed with 2 tablespoons honey.
In China, Japan and Far-East countries, women who do not conceive and need to strengthen the uterus, have been taking cinnamon powder for centuries. Women who cannot conceive take a pinch of cinnamon powder in half teaspoon of honey and apply it on the gums frequently throughout the day, so that it slowly mixes with the saliva and enters the body.
Apple Cider Vinegar– Organic, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar can work to balance the pH and therefore improve fertility. You can take 2 teaspoons in a glass of water, sweetened with honey. Drink a glass twice a day. This should be used by both men and women.
Avocado – Avocado provides a great source of vitamin E which is a powerful antioxidant and an important fertility nutrient for both men and women. It improves sperm function and helps to regulate ovulation and improve cervical mucus.
Goji Berries – only recently introduced to the Western world, the goji berry is a sweet red fruit native to Asia. It has been used as a medicinal food for thousands of years, and has been studied extensively in modern times to substantiate its health
benefits. In Asia, it is widely believed to increase sexual fluids and enhance fertility.
They are the most nutrient dense food on earth, containing the highest levels of antioxidants of any known food, 500 times more vitamin C by weight than oranges, more beta carotene than carrots, more iron than spinach, 18 amino acids, Vitamins B1, B2, B6 and Vitamin E, 21 trace minerals, and many natural compounds that promote health. Be sure to eat the whole berry, as many products on the market contain just a small quantity of goji berry extract.
Whole Grains – Whole grains such as oats, brown rice, whole wheat and quinoa are complex carbohydrates*which release sugar into your bloodstream slowly. They contain an abundance of vitamins B, zinc and selenium which are essential for cellular reproduction, hormonal balance and the production of healthy eggs and sperm.
Green Leafy Vegetables – high in magnesium (vital for female hormone balance), folic acid and vitamin B6.
Nuts – high in B vitamins. Almonds are high in zinc; walnuts are high in zinc and omega 3 fatty acids.
Lentils and other beans – high in folic acid
Oysters – packed with zinc, which plays a role in semen and testosterone production in men and in ovulation and fertility in women.
Brown Rice – high in fiber and B Vitamins. Fiber strips old hormones and waste products from the system. Without this removal, old hormones re-circulate and create imbalances.
However, be aware that eating too much meat will increase ammonia which can interfere with the implantation of the egg in the uterus. Too much rich protein may also increase the body’s acidity and affect sperm activity.
    Good luck to all X
